Definitions of Black Agency: The legacy of Mildred Johnson Edwards | News | Arts & Humanities

“Most children today go to schools that are composed predominantly of children of one racial background or category. And that’s the result of a very long history of policy choices we’ve made, as well as lots of choices by individuals”, says Ansley Erickson , Director of the History and Education program in an interview with Humanities New York, an organization committed to fostering, supporting and advocating for the public humanities across the State of New York.

Erickson and Karen Taylor received an Action Grant from Humanities New York to host two public events as part of their process in documenting Harlem’s rich tradition of education through the Harlem Education History Project.
